Ultra High-Pressure (UHP) Waterjetting (40,000 PSI)

Ultra High-Pressure (UHP) Waterjetting (40,000 PSI)
UHP is replacing sandblasting in many paint removal and surface preparation applications. It is recognized by SSPC, NACE and leading coating manufacturers as a superior preparation method and is specified by the US Navy and Coast Guard.

UHP exceeds the power and production rates of sandblasting and eliminates the environmental concern of airborne dust, grit, and paint.

UHP is also very effective for industrial cleaning, concrete repair preparation, hydrodemolition of concrete and precision cold cutting of materials such as steel, concrete and stone.

The Technology Behind Effective Waterjetting.

High velocity waterjets blast away unwanted materials from surfaces at pressures up to 40,000 psi. Existing paint, rust scale and surface contaminants are completely removed; surfaces are left totally dry and clean - ready for immediate recoating. When the job is complete, there is virtually nothing left to clean up. Waterjetting provides the production rate similar to sandblasting without any of the concerns.

Yankee's UHP System Improves Surface Preparation.

When preparing a surface for recoating today, owners must be prepared to face many challenges. They include increasingly strict Federal regulations, growing concern over environmental impact, higher waste disposal costs and escalating project costs. Because Yankee's Ultra High-Pressure waterjetting service has the ability to economically remove paint and contaminants and contain them, it has become a proven cost-effective alternative to abrasive blast systems. Our UHP system removes visible surface contaminants such as paint, rust scale and residues, and effectively removes invisible contaminants like salt, chemicals and cholorides. It does not distort or abrade the surfaces or substrates, so no contaminants are trapped by foldovers that could cause spot failures. The resultant surface is clean, which greatly enhances the life of the recoating material.

Ideal for Many Applications.

Favored for its environmental and cost benefits for surface preparation, UHP waterjetting is also a frequently preferred cutting method. By introducing sand into the blast nozzle, precision cold cutting of materials as hard as steel, cement and stone can be performed. Yankee's UHP system is also ideal for removing urethanes and elastimerics and is a solution for a wide variety of industries such as:

Cement Plants: Blasts away unwanted dirt, grease and product buildup
Chemical Processing: Removes solids and staining from equipment
Construction: Cuts steel and concrete, performs precision demolition
Food Processing: Eliminates grease, fats and residues
Highway Maintenance: Cleans and removes lines, vegetation, signs of wear, graffiti
Jewelry: Removes oxidation, deposits and residues
Marine: Strips barnacles and marine growth, epoxies and urethanes
Railroad: Clears contaminants from tracks and cars
Surface Preparation: Removes paint, rust, lead, salts and other contaminants
Airport Maintenance: Cleans and removes tire residue from runways.
